Young Eagles Certificate Printer

Getting Started

  1. Once installed, click the Start Menu, then select Programs, Young Eagles. - The certificate program will open.
  2. Begin using the program by entering all pilots for the event. Click the "+" button beside Aircraft on the certificate, or select Pilots from the Edit menu. The Pilot information dialog box will open.
  3. Complete all necessary fields. Some information may be added the day of the event once specific information is known. For example, you may have the pilot information in advance but the aircraft type and registration may not be known until the day of the event.
The Aircraft Type & Registration fields must be completed for each pilot in order for the information to print on the certificate.
  4. Add the names of the Young Eagles on the certificate with the location & click the print icon. The Young Eagles name will automatically be saved to the database. Proceed to enter each Young Eagles name. The location will not need to be entered for each Young Eagle at the same event.

Printing Registration Forms
The program will print the standard Young Eagle Registration forms to be filled out by the parents prior to the event.  Select File-Print Registration Form.  (Adobe Reader, or similar program is needed to print the form.)  The pilot information section of the form printed by the program does not have the fill-in boxes as the pilot information can be printed on the form after the event.

After the event print the pilots information on the same Young Eagle form by placing the completed form back in to the printer and selecting File-Print Pilot Information.  The information for the pilot that is currently selected on the form in the program is printed.

If the information is not aligned correctly on the form, the alignment can be changed by selecting Preferences from the File menu, then select the Pilot Info Offset tab. Enter the distance to move the printed information to get it aligned on the form.

Printing Pilot Signatures
The program can print the pilots signature on the Young Eagle Certificate.  Printing the signature requires a scanned image of the singnature to be assigned to each pilot.  The signature needs to be a bitmap image file, either a .bmp, .gif or .jpg.  The background of the image must be white to print transparently on the certificate.   To assign a signature file to a pilot, open the Pilot information dialog (select Edit Pilots from the Edit menu, select the piliot and click Edit) and click the Browse button beside the Signature file field.  The signature files should be stored in the same folder as the database file, so the file can be accessed by all users of the program.

Multiple Computers
This program uses an Access database to store the Pilot & Young Eagles information. Several copies of the program can be installed on multiple computers networked together to allow for easier data entry. For example, one person could be registering the Pilots, another could be registering the Young Eagles and a third could be printing the certificates.  After installing the program on additional computers, select File-Select Database from the main menu and select the location of the shared database file.

Additional Databases
Additional databases can be created for different events.  Select File-New to create a new database.

Customizing the program
Select File-Preferences from the menu to customize the program. Use the Fonts page to change the fonts that are used to print the certificates. Use the Layout page to change the location that the items are printed on the certificate.

Program Updates
Updates to the program may be released from time-to-time.  To check for a newer version of the program select Help-Check for Program Updates on the main menu of the program.  An internet connection is required for this function as the program will connect to our web site to check for any updates.
